Return & Refund Policy

At Liberty Tires, we want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. If you need to return or exchange a product, please review our policy below. This policy applies to products purchased through libertytires.com and in-person at our Bartlett, IL location.

1. Return Eligibility

Products may be returned within 30 days of delivery, provided they meet ALL of the following conditions:

  • Tires must be unmounted and unused — specifically: no bead marks from mounting on a rim, no valve core installed, no road contact, no signs of inflation or balancing weights. Even a single mounting-dismounting cycle makes a tire ineligible for return
  • Parts and equipment must be in original, unopened packaging — unused and uninstalled
  • Products must include all original tags, labels, documentation, and packaging materials
  • Items purchased during clearance or "Final Sale" promotions are not eligible for return
  • Customer must obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number before shipping the return

2. Return Process

  1. Contact us at (224) 642-8165 or through our Contact page with your order number — do NOT ship products back without authorization
  2. Receive RMA number — we will provide a Return Merchandise Authorization number and return instructions within 1 business day
  3. Ship or schedule pickup:
    • Local (within 35 miles): We can arrange free pickup for returns of 4+ tires
    • Outside delivery area: Ship to our Bartlett, IL facility with the RMA number clearly marked on the package
  4. Inspection & refund: Once we receive and inspect the product (1–2 business days), we will process your refund within 5–7 business days

Important: Returns shipped without an RMA number may be refused or delayed.

3. Refund Method

Refunds are issued to the original payment method:

  • Credit/Debit card: Refund appears within 5–10 business days depending on your bank
  • Digital wallet (Apple Pay, Shop Pay, PayPal): Refund appears within 3–5 business days
  • Fleet account (NET-30): Credit applied to your account balance on next invoice
  • Cash/Zelle/Venmo: Refund issued via the same method or as store credit (at our discretion for amounts over $500)

Refunds include the product price only. Original shipping costs are non-refundable unless the return is due to our error (wrong product shipped, defective item).

4. Return Shipping Costs

  • Defective or incorrect items (our error): We cover all return shipping costs
  • Change of mind / ordered wrong size: Customer is responsible for return shipping costs
  • Local returns (within 35 miles): Free pickup available for returns of 4+ tires

A restocking fee of 15% may apply to the following returns:

  • Orders of 8 or more tires returned for non-defective reasons
  • Special-order items that were specifically sourced for the customer
  • Products returned without original packaging or with missing components

The restocking fee does not apply to returns due to defects, damage in shipping, or incorrect products sent by us.

5. Exchanges

We offer exchanges for different sizes or products of equal or greater value. To exchange:

  • Contact us within 30 days of delivery
  • The original product must be unmounted and unused (same conditions as returns)
  • If the replacement product costs more, you will be charged the difference
  • If the replacement product costs less, the difference will be refunded to your original payment method
  • Exchanges are subject to product availability — if the desired product is out of stock, we will issue a full refund instead

6. Damaged or Defective Products

If you receive a damaged or defective product:

  • Report within 48 hours of delivery — contact us with photos showing the damage, the shipping label, and the packaging
  • We will arrange a free replacement or full refund at your choice — no restocking fee
  • Do NOT mount or use a visibly damaged tire — contact us immediately for a replacement
  • For UPS-shipped orders, we may need to file a carrier damage claim — please retain all packaging materials until the claim is resolved

For warranty defects discovered after use (e.g., premature tread wear, belt separation), please refer to our Warranty Policy.

7. Non-Returnable Items

  • Mounted or used tires — any evidence of mounting (bead marks, valve core, balancing weights), road contact, or inflation
  • Custom or special-order items ordered specifically at customer's request
  • Items marked as "Final Sale" or "Clearance"
  • Tarps, straps, and flatbed equipment removed from original sealed packaging
  • Brake components and electrical parts that have been installed
  • Products without proof of purchase from Liberty Tires
  • Products returned after the 30-day return window

8. Returns After 30 Days

Products returned after the 30-day window but within the warranty period may be eligible for a warranty claim (replacement or pro-rated credit) rather than a refund. Please see our Warranty Policy for details.

Products returned after both the 30-day return window and the warranty period are not eligible for refund, exchange, or credit.
